Fundraiser for Parkinson's (M. Jackson)

Well in advance of yesterday's sad development, Clipper City Brewing Company had arranged to co-host a fundraiser for NARSAD at the Old Brogue Irish Pub in Great Falls, Virginia, on Tuesday 9 October: a tutored Beer, Cheese, and Chocolate Tasting.

[UPDATE: coverage of event]

Why should this matter?

Because NARSAD is a non-profit organization that distributes funds for research in over 30 mental diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimers, Autism, Anorexia, PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, etc.

EVERY DOLLAR raised at this and all of its fundraisers, NARSAD returns to funding mental health funding research, such as for Parkinson's Disease. All administrative and operating costs are paid for by two family foundations.

That last point, and that my own father suffered from Parkinson's, drew me to these wonderful people. Consider attending in honor of Mr. Jackson.

[UPDATE: National Toast on 30 September in honor of Michael Jackson and to support National Parkinson Foundation.]
