Pic(k) of the Week: Snow sprouts

Snow sprouts

Snow, snow, led astray,
Why, why, here today?
It's calendar sprin(g),
Or, so we thin(k).
Winter's nine months away.

A snowstorm hit the Washington, D.C.-area, on 25 March, five days after the start of spring. A premature April Fools' Day prank, perhaps?

P.S. Please excuse my doggerel.
