Hugh Sisson to throw out 1st pitch for Orioles

Hugh Sisson —founder and general partner of the Clipper City Brewing Company— will throw out the ceremonial first pitch when the Kansas City Royals visit the Baltimore Orioles on 2 July at Camden Yards. I'll be there in the bleachers, hoping our shouts of "Huuugh" don't sound like "booo!"

And, oh yes, Clipper City beer is indeed available on draft at that ballpark, if not yet in Washington, DC, at Nationals Ballpark.

From the June/July Issue of the Mid-Atlantic Brewing News:

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Crackerjack, Local Beer is All That We Lack

it would be a shutout, if not for a few kiosks hawking Backdraft Brown and Hook & Ladder lighter from the Hook & Ladder Brewing Co., based in Silver Spring, Maryland. <...>

Despite [Chris] Benevento's enthusiasm [Nationals park general Manager for Centerplate, the Nat's concessionaire], local craft brewers that have tried to place their beers in National stadium haven't gotten a warm reception. Tom Cizauskas, a sales rep for Clipper City Brewing Co. in Baltimore, said he tried to connect with Centerplate on numerous occasions between August 2007 and March 2008. "They declined our request for a face-to-face meeting, and finally told us, 'We've decided to go in another direction.' " Noting that "were less than 40 miles away as the crow flies," the closest packaging brewery to the Nats' park, Cizauskas expressed disappointment at being given the brushoff.

But you can get draft Peroni, an Italian industrial lager. HUH?
