Hoppy Jeff goes legit

Jeff Wells, a.k.a. Hoppy Jeff, a long-time DC denizen and good beer promoter, as well as an excellent musician, has moved to Brooklyn, N.Y.C. and opened his own eponymous pub: Wells Ales & Lagers.

[UPDATE 2007.12: Jeff Wells is no longer a partner in the pub.]

From DC Beer on Thursday 14 June:

Friends and respected individuals of the food and beverage industry, we are pleased to announce the opening of Wells Ales & Lagers.

We are a specialty beer and wine restaurant with an emphasis on quality ingredients from independent producers. We have received all of the necessities and we will be open for lunch at 11:30 am and serving food and drinks until 1 am starting on Friday, June 15.

We will soon announce the date of the official grand opening party.

Cheers,
Jeff Wells

Jeff went on to include subway directions. Right on!
L Train to Bedford Ave stop. Walk 9 blocks south and we are on the east side of the street.

Here's an earlier post from 2006 which mentioned Jeff, and a pic.

In the early 20th century, my grandfather on my mother's side - Joseph Ambraziejus - had his Lithuanian import/export business office right around the corner from Jeff's new spot. And my father grew up only a few blocks away.
