The Lucy 'does DC' Saunders tour rolls on!

Tonight it will be a beer dinner at Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg, VA.

But yesterday, it was a live cooking demonstration on Channel 9 TV and a beer dinner at The Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton, Maryland.

The Pub's Ian Morrison -- host, chef, and owner -- welcomed Lucy, as well as Hugh Sisson, General Partner of Clipper City Brewing Company.

It was a packed house -- with a waiting list. All braved the evening's downpours that had wind gusts recorded as high as 70 mph.

And all were rewarded.

Cook the Book

All the dishes Ian and his kitchen staff prepared for the evening -- save one -- were taken from Lucy Saunders' newest cookbook: Best of American Beer and Food. Each was paired with a beer from Clipper City Brewing.

But all were , as Lucy said, well-tweaked by Chef Ian.

Hugh Sisson pointed out Lucy had the recipes in her cookbook tested by volunteer cooks nationwide, so that anyone could prepare them at home -- maybe even after enjoying 3 beers.

A little buttah makes the lobstah bettah

The one dish not from Lucy's book, was in fact one that Ian had submitted to Lucy for publication.
Chef Ian asked me why I didn’t include his recipe for Butter-Poached Lobster with Lobster Mashed Potatoes in the cookbook. I explained that the recipe was a bit long and involved for the average home cook. Yet at the dinner, so many people clamored for the recipe that I promised to post it to the blog, so here it is

Wrap-up
