Brewer as Chili Cook

Clipper City Brewing's Hugh Sisson played chef on TV this morning.

It's 1 April you say?

Well yes indeed. But Sisson really did do a chili cooking segment this morning ... on Washington D.C.'s Fox 5.

Here's the video. Here's the recipe.

Hugh throws in a couple of tips on beer and food pairing for good measure.

  • Match the spice of the dish with bitterness of the hops. He pairs the chile with Clipper City Pale Ale.
  • For long-cooking meals, avoid cooking with highly-hopped beers: the bitterness will be accentuated. He prepares the chile with his Balto Marzhon, a Vienna Lager.
Want a non-carne chili? Here's a recipe that Clipper City had on its website a little over a year ago.

Clipper City's Hugh Sisson talks with Channel 9 anchor Mike WalterHugh's been doing a bit of DC media recently.

In early March, he was at WUSA 9, where he participated in another cooking segment, but that morning with chef and beer-cookbook author Lucy Saunders. Here he is, back to the camera, with Channel 9 morning anchor Mike Walter.
