I'm celebrating American Craft Beer Week with one beer —one local beer— each day during the week of 11 - 17 May. Local for me is the Washington, D.C./Maryland/Virginia area.
Day Five (15 May):
At Capitol City Brewing in Arlington, Virginia, Organic Saison was my fifth LOCAL beer (of what will be seven) of the week.
Deep golden, mildly hazy, redolent of licorice and ginger, but as the bartender told me, those were purely yeast-derived flavors: no spices were used. The finish was quenchingly dry. It was quite refreshing on a warm May Friday afternoon. Love the planet, and drink a tasty beer.
I was thirsty, so I went for a second pint: a cask-conditioned Nut Brown Ale.
[UPDATE: From the Beer Activist comes news that the saison is the first in a trio of organic beers. Next up: wit. In October: tripel.]
